Colonist (coLinux) 이용한 Kubuntu 설치기

Cooperative Linux is the first working free and open source method for optimally running Linux on Microsoft Windows natively. More generally, Cooperative Linux (short-named coLinux) is a port of the Linux kernel that allows it to run cooperatively alongside another operating system on a single machine. For instance, it allows one to freely run Linux on Windows 2000/XP, without using a commercial PC virtualization software such as VMware, in a way which is much more optimal than using any general purpose PC virtualization software.

coLinux 를 이용하면 윈도우즈에서 native 로 리눅스를 사용할 수 있습니다.
단 root fs로 제공되는 이미지가 데비안과 젠투 정도며 설치가 좀 불편... -> 2006.08.01 Fedora Core 5 와 Arch Linux 추가됨.

Colonist ( http://colonist.sourceforge.net )

Colonist is a meta-distribution which exploits existing live CD Linux distributions by adapting them to coLinux platform.

LiveCD을 이용하여 coLinux 플래폼에 리눅스 설치를 자동으로 해주는 프로그램입니다.

Supported Distributions

-> 2006.11.26  Ubuntu 6.06, 6.10 은 아직 지원하지 않습니다.

좀 사용해 봐야겠지만 속도면에서는 VMware보다 확실히 빠릅니다.
시디 대신 iso 이미지를 마운트해서 설치하니 설치 시간은 겨우 5분 (install 버튼를 누른 순간부터 사용자 추가전까지)

아래는 Colonist를 이용해서 Kubuntu 5.10을 설치하는 과정입니다.
